Heidi Ramsay

I recently started painting again, after a break of 20 years. Since leaving college I have worked in the fashion industry and all design work is now generated by computer. Drawing and painting had always been a passion and I imagined that one day I would paint again. So I have begun to explore the process of painting again, from a need to create something manually that has very different qualities to computer generated images.

Initially I have chosen oil painting and have created a series of  paintings of friends and landscapes that have inspired me. As I work full time my painting is done in the limited spare time that I have, but I am enjoying it enormously and have realised how important it is to me. The new paintings in this year's show are landscapes that have been significant to me for various reasons and florals which I have painted since childhood that I am exploring again.

The Chocolate Factories in Wood Green, London N22, are a landmark development and hub of excellence for the creative industries in the UK.

The project started in 1996 when Collage Arts, an arts development agency, moved into the Chocolate Factory on Clarendon Road and converted several derelict floors of the Factory into artist studios.

What followed was a high demand for creative space and in 2002, Collage Arts renovated Chocolate Factory 2 on Coburg Road, next door.
