Sabrina Osborne

Sabrina works mainly with video, installation, photography and mixed media assemblage. She moved to London in 2007. Since then dislocation and isolation have become main subjects of her work. She carefully records the unconscious stair of the human mind, which randomly captures and stores. Her works are beautiful beguiling amalgamations of fragmented constructions of juxtaposed images, weathered objects, photographs, materials, sounds, spaces and times. She tries to create a non-narrative yet nostalgic and melancholic experience for the viewer. It is like piecing together a puzzle by running through a maze of memory lanes. Through this montage, she makes her viewer struggle to make connections, assimilate meanings and get immersed in the process of identifying the familiar /unfamiliar/known/unknown, building the feeling of estrangement and loss. Her self-referential works are tinted with concerns of identity, memory, melancholia and loss.

Born in India, Sabrina Osborne lives and works in London and New Delhi as full time artist, critic and curator. Sabrina has her MFA in Art Practice with Merit at Goldsmiths London University. She has worked as full time artist since 1996 onwards. In India she had her BFA (1994) & MFA (1996) from College of Art, Delhi University.

She has taught at university, conducted workshops, organized exhibitions, written exhibition reviews, given lectures & talks in academic and art world settings. She has won national and international scholarships and participated at residencies in India, Sri Lanka and in Mexico.

She has exhibited in India, UK, Germany, Switzerland, Mexico, Spain, USA, Thailand and Sri Lanka, so far.

Wood Green, London

The Chocolate Factories in Wood Green, London N22, are a landmark development and hub of excellence for the creative industries in the UK.

The project started in 1996 when Collage Arts, an arts development agency, moved into the Chocolate Factory on Clarendon Road and converted several derelict floors of the Factory into artist studios.

What followed was a high demand for creative space and in 2002, Collage Arts renovated Chocolate Factory 2 on Coburg Road, next door.
