My work is about me finding my visual language. In the past it had been very experimental and driven by my love for texture. I have worked with collages and a mixture of materials creating interesting textural piece in an abstract manner.
now i have used the briefs that were given to me by clients and developed them into a collection of work. For this exhibition, i was inspired by tinga tinga art using acrylic. I wanted to give a strong African feel to the piece, involving my love for batik, tie and dye, and mixed media. I used batik and tie and dye created on paper as the background for the art work and evolved it to speak about the subject, then incorporated some extra craft elements to bring a modern twist to the piece.
C207, Chocolate Factory 1
Wood Green, London
The Chocolate Factories in Wood Green, London N22, are a landmark development and hub of excellence for the creative industries in the UK.
The project started in 1996 when Collage Arts, an arts development agency, moved into the Chocolate Factory on Clarendon Road and converted several derelict floors of the Factory into artist studios.
What followed was a high demand for creative space and in 2002, Collage Arts renovated Chocolate Factory 2 on Coburg Road, next door.
